According to Odaily, Vivek Ramaswamy, a leader within the U.S. Government Efficiency Department, recently highlighted issues with the Treasury Department's 'Do Not Pay' (DNP) list on social media platform X. The DNP list is intended to prevent payments to individuals who are deceased, in default on federal debts, or excluded contractors. However, Ramaswamy pointed out that the system is not functioning as intended. For instance, the Small Business Administration (SBA) reportedly issued over 100,000 forgivable loans to individuals on the DNP list, resulting in $5.3 billion being disbursed to potentially ineligible recipients.
The SBA's Inspector General has acknowledged this issue and recommended that the agency cease this practice. Despite this, the current leadership of the SBA has rejected the proposal to halt such payments. Ramaswamy emphasized the need to address this blatant waste of federal resources, suggesting that it is time for the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to intervene. In response to these revelations, Elon Musk commented on the scale and audacity of government fraud, expressing his shock at the situation.
