According to BlockBeats, on November 20, SlowMist founder Yu Jian reported on X that a user fell victim to a phishing attack involving a wallet address with similar beginning and ending characters. The user mistakenly transferred 129 million USDT to the phishing address. Remarkably, the phishing group returned 90% of the stolen funds within an hour. Subsequently, the remaining 10% was also returned after more than four hours.

This incident highlights the ongoing risks associated with phishing attacks in the cryptocurrency space, where malicious actors exploit similarities in wallet addresses to deceive users. The swift return of the funds by the phishing group is unusual, as such attacks typically result in permanent loss of assets. This case underscores the importance of vigilance and verification when conducting transactions in the digital currency realm.

The return of the full amount is a rare occurrence in the world of cryptocurrency scams, where victims often have little recourse once funds are transferred to fraudulent addresses. This event serves as a reminder for users to double-check wallet addresses and remain cautious of potential phishing schemes. The incident also raises questions about the motives of the phishing group in returning the funds, which remains unclear.
